Winner of the Junior Boys¡¦ Singles title,
just under one year earlier in September 2011 on home soil at the
Chengdu Junior and Cadet Open, China¡¦s Yu Ziyang repeated the success on
Sunday 19th August 2012.
The winner one year earlier, China¡¦s 18 year
old Gu Ruochen retained her Junior Girls¡¦ Singles crown at the Nikon
Hong Kong Junior and Cadet Open on Sunday 19th August 2012 and, in so
doing, departed the Special Administrative Region with three titles to
her name.

Competition for places is a healthy sign and
securing a place in a Japanese team of whatever age would seem to
becoming more and more difficult; a fact that was clearly underlined at
the Nikon Hong Kong Junior and Cadet Open on Saturday 18th August 2012.
China¡¦s Liu Gaoyang and Singapore¡¦s Zhou
Yihan were the major casualties as matters progressed to the semi-final
stage of the Junior Girls¡¦ Singles event at the Nikon Hong Kong Junior
and Cadet Open on Saturday 18th August 2012.
The Chinese quartet of Gu Yuting, Gu Ruochen,
Lin Gaoyang and Liu Xi continued their fine form in the first stage of
the Junior Girls¡¦ Team event at the Nikon Hong Kong Junior and Cadet
Open on Friday 17th August 2012.
Chinese Taipei¡¦s Lee Chia-Sheng was the
notable name to experience defeat in the first stage of proceedings at
the Nikon Hong Kong Junior and Cadet Open on the third day of play,
Friday 17th August 2012.
The top seeds, China, duly justified their
status to win the Junior Girls¡¦ Team title at the Nikon Hong Kong Junior
and Cadet Open on Thursday 16th August 2012.
The fourth seeds but in reality the clear
favourites, China won the Junior Boys¡¦ Team title at the Nikon Hong Kong
Junior and Cadet Open on Thursday 16th August 2012, with only a spirited
display by the hosts causing the champion¡¦s elect any problems of note.
The first three seeds in the Junior Girls¡¦
Team event at the Nikon Hong Kong Junior and Cadet Open all finished in
first place in their group on Wednesday 15th August 2012.
Listed in fourth place on the ITTF Junior
Circuit Boys¡¦ Standings, local eyes will be very much focused on 18 year
old Chiu Chung Hei at the Nikon Hong Kong Junior and Cadet Open.
Singapore's Zhou Yihan is the outstanding
player on the 2012 ITTF Junior Circuit; she has played in three
tournaments and she has won the Junior Girls¡¦ Singles title on each
occasion.
In previous years to officially announce the
Nikon Hong Kong Junior and Cadet Open, an ITTF Premium Junior Circuit
Tournament, a lavish Press Conference has been staged; this year was no
different.
Setting the standard and setting new
standards, the Nikon Hong Kong Junior and Cadet Open has established
itself very much as the flagship tournament of the ITTF Junior Circuit.
